Nomads and Website Travel have joined forces to bring together the travel brands Peter Pans, Backpackers World Travel, Adventure Travel Bugs and Student Uni Travel with both Nomad’s domestic brand Mad Travel and its international wholesale business.
According to a Nomads statement, the relaunched Nomads Affiliate Hostel Business for Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, will mean: “Two exceptionally strong brands unite to leverage off both their brand presence and combined purchasing power within the backpacking industry.”
Meg Allen-Armistead, general manager of the new business, said: “The time is now right to roll out a new business model that will create real value for member hostels and to pull together a real community of hostel owners to work together in these tough economic times.
“The strength in distribution from our new partners will give the significant edge to our members.”
The new partnership will soon be launching a host of new procurement deals, the aim being to have at least quality 40 hostels within the first year.
Ms Allen-Armistead said: “We will obviously be giving first preference to those existing hostels that have shown loyalty over the years to Nomads and then approaching hostels all around Australia, New Zealand and Fiji to jump on board with the new membership arrangements.”
Members will be offered the benefit of Nomads branding, Nomads Travel, Mad Travel and Mad Card distribution, procurement deals, international marketing, combined local marketing, systems and procedures, and the retail distribution of the Website Travel group.
Ms Allen-Armistead added: “We are extremely excited with the joint venture and look forward to developing a robust chain of quality properties that can count on the strength of bookings from our extensive agent outlets. In this climate the two keys for backpacker business owners are maximising savings on running costs and getting bums in beds.”
