Golden Backpack Awards voting now open

Voting in this year’s Golden Backpack Awards opened on Monday, with the process once again being conducted exclusively online, with all votes verified by e-mail.

The Golden Backpack Awards reward those companies who work hardest to make backpacking around Australia and New Zealand that extra bit special. Maybe you stayed in a fantastic hostel you’ll never forget, or went on a trip with the best tour guide Down Under. What’s the best way to book a tour, find a job or get around? The answers to these questions and more are in your hands.

Vote in the Golden Backpack Awards and you’ll be in with a chance of winning two return flights to any destination on the Virgin Australia domestic network.

Don’t worry if you haven’t visited every state in Oz, or made it across the Tasman to New Zealand yet. Just vote for your favourites in the places you have been and you’ll automatically be entered into our prize draw to win two return flights with Virgin Australia Airlines.

Voting closes on September 16th 2011 and the winners of the Golden Backpacks will be announced in October. Don’t forget to tell your mates to vote too, and be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize.

The voting page will be heavily promoted via TNT Magazine and on

Backpacker businesses are also encouraged to link to it from their own websites. Free voting is available on all Global Gossip terminals throughout Australia and New Zealand, including its Nomads, Base and YHA guest PCs.

Run in association with TNT Publishing and Backpacker Trade News, the Golden Backpacks are the only consumer-voted awards for Australia and New Zealand’s independent travel industry.
